Your Journey to Healthy Weight Loss
Empowering Your Body and Mind at Ford Wellness Center
At Ford Wellness Center, we understand that healthy weight loss is more than just shedding pounds – it's about achieving a sustainable, balanced state of health. With guidance from Nathan D. Ford MD and our experienced clinical team, you'll receive a customized plan tailored to your body's unique needs, supported by science and compassion.
Why a Medically Guided Weight Loss Program?
Weight gain is often influenced by a combination of metabolic, hormonal, emotional, and clinical factors. Unlike trendy diets or one-size-fits-all solutions, our physician-led program is grounded in evidence-based medicine and advanced diagnostics to treat the underlying causes of weight gain – not just the symptoms.
We begin with a comprehensive health evaluation, including lab testing, to determine if underlying conditions such as insulin resistance, hormonal imbalances, thyroid dysfunction, or inflammation are contributing to weight retention. This thorough process allows us to establish medical necessity, optimize safety, and develop a treatment plan tailored to your individual health profile.
Treatment Options We Offer
▸ Medical Grade Nutraceuticals
High-quality supplements containing bioactive compounds that support metabolism, nutrient absorption, and energy production. These are prescribed only after evaluating nutritional deficiencies or biochemical imbalances.
▸ Medical Foods
Clinically formulated to manage specific health conditions, medical foods support appetite control, gut health, and satiety—integral components of sustainable weight loss.
▸ Prescription Weight Loss Medications
For certain patients, prescription medications may be a safe and effective way to initiate or enhance weight loss progress. Options may include GLP-1 receptor agonists (e.g., semaglutide, liraglutide), which are FDA-approved for weight management and work by reducing appetite, slowing digestion, and stabilizing blood glucose levels. These medications are not suitable for all patients and are prescribed only after Dr. Ford has established medical necessity through a thorough in-person evaluation and clinical lab review.
GLP-1 medications are highly regulated, require ongoing physician oversight, and cannot be automatically refilled. Instead, they must be renewed during a scheduled follow-up appointment to ensure safety, proper dosing, and continued eligibility based on treatment response and lab monitoring.
Due to their controlled nature and growing demand, pricing for GLP-1s varies significantly based on formulation, dosage, and availability. Additionally, the cost of the physician visit is separate from the cost of the medication, and this visit may not be covered by insurance. Patients should be aware of these requirements before requesting a prescription.
Note: We receive many inquiries from patients specifically requesting GLP-1 prescriptions. Please understand that this treatment is only available to individuals who meet established medical criteria and complete an in-person evaluation with Nathan D. Ford MD. Medication is not prescribed based on patient request alone.
Understanding GLP-1 Medications
GLP-1 receptor agonists (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 medications) are a class of injectable treatments originally developed for Type 2 Diabetes but now approved and widely used for weight management in medically eligible patients.
They mimic the body’s natural GLP-1 hormone, which:
Suppresses appetite and food cravings
Slows the rate at which the stomach empties
Increases satiety (fullness)
Helps regulate insulin and blood sugar levels
Nathan D. Ford MD prescribes GLP-1 medications only when appropriate, and only after a full medical workup has confirmed their necessity and safety. These medications are not “quick-fix” solutions, and they demand careful monitoring to minimize risks and optimize outcomes.
Comprehensive Lab Work & Hormonal Evaluation
Accurate diagnosis is essential. Your treatment begins with a full panel of lab tests to assess:
Thyroid function
Cortisol and adrenal hormones
Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone levels
Blood glucose and insulin
Liver, kidney, and cardiovascular health
These biomarkers help us determine whether Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) or other supportive treatments are necessary to regulate metabolism and promote healthy fat loss.
Pricing & Insurance
Weight loss treatments, especially those involving GLP-1 medications or compounded prescriptions, may not be covered by insurance. Pricing can vary depending on:
Medication type and dose
Required lab testing
Nutraceutical protocols
Frequency of follow-up visits
We are committed to full transparency and will provide a detailed cost breakdown after your initial consultation.
